Joint adaptation and kindergarten service

Lauaxeta Ikastola > Joint adaptation and kindergarten service

Special Pre-primary kindergarten service

In order to facilitate family reconciliation between childcare and work, the following special optional services, aimed at care and informal socio-educational environment, will be available to students and families of Early Childhood Education.

  • As these services are outside the official school calendar, they will have a supplementary cost, as specified in the table. The fees will be charged as follows: the start of the school year in October, Christmas in February, Easter week in May and summer in July. In order not to hinder the organisation, no late registrations or refunds or cancellations will be accepted after the payment has been made.
  • The person in charge of this service will be Gotzone Izagirre (gizagirre@lauaxeta.eus), together with the team of educators complementary to the teaching team (not tutors), and the facilities will be the spaces and classrooms of Infant Education.
  • There will be no bus service, so in services that do not fit in with the ordinary school timetable and calendar, families will have to bring and pick up their children. On the purple days at the end of the school year, on the other hand, there will be a bus service, as it coincides with the summer camps.

Joint Adaptation Open Classroom

Joint adaptation is the process whereby, before the start of the school year, family members help their child to make the transition to the school environment. During this period, children have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with their new environment, the teachers and other children, while still having the reassuring presence of a family member. Gradually, families begin to be away for longer periods of time, allowing them to become accustomed to separation and daily routine in a safe and progressive manner.

Observations on the joint adaptation process:

  • Date: the first week of September, before the official school calendar starts.
  • Timetable: from 9:00 to 11:00. At 11:00 families leave the Ikastola.
At 9:00 a.m. the tutors welcome families and children.
From 9:00 to 10:00 families have the opportunity to participate with their children in the activity proposed by the teacher and to gradually leave them with the teacher, but still being accessible.
At 10:00 families go out into the inner courtyard, which is connected to the classroom, from where they can continue to observe or leave for good, as they wish.
At 11:00 families leave the Ikastola for good, and decide whether their child will stay in the nursery (until 16:30 at the latest) or leave together.
  • In the process of joint adaptation, there can only be one family member per child in the classroom. It is recommended that the same person is present every day.
