Special kindergarten service

To facilitate work-life conciliation for the parents, an optional Special Service is available for the families of our Pre-primary students, where the children are looked after in an informal socio-educational environment.
Apart from the ordinary school calendar, there is also a special school calendar and timetable for Pre-Primary students (additional and complementing the ordinary one). This complementary service consists of a special calendar available to all these students during the school year (except for official holidays and long weekends), and a special timetable, from 7.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
As these services are not within the ordinary official school calendar they have an additional cost, as detailed below, payable at the end of the school year.
The persons responsible for this service will be the (non-tutoring) education team that complements the usual team of tutors and teachers, and it is held in the Pre-primary spaces and classrooms.
There is no bus service for these Special Services and the families must therefore bring the child to the Ikastola using their own transport.

At the beginning of September, the families who have enrolled their children for the Special Pre-primary Kindergarten Services can take part together with the children in the Open Classroom.
The main aim of the Open Classroom is to give the families and children the chance to acclimatise together, aiding them in this process as they explore the classroom and material, get to know the class members and make initial contact. This means that the process of separation from the family and forging a link with the school setting can take place in a calm, protected, safe, gradual and affectionate way, for both the child and the family members. Following the educators’ recommendations, the families can get involved in their child’s play, study the setting together and observe and analyse the child’s acclimatisation and behaviour.

From the second week of September, the acclimatisation process provided by the Ikastola and the Special Services is considered complete and the children begin to attend their classes unaccompanied. The family can choose to extend the acclimatisation process if they wish and are free to organise their children’s calendar and timetable, always bearing in mind the teachers’ recommendations to guarantee their effective acclimatisation. In this case they will agree on the child’s arrival and departure times with the teacher (observing lunch and nap times and making sure the children are at the Ikastola for a maximum of 8 hours a day), and also the calendar, if necessary.
